Dried Paper Daisies FAQs & Fun Facts
Because paper daisies are "everlastings," they are incredibly durable. Under ideal conditions (away from direct sunlight and moisture), they will maintain their vibrant color for at least 1 year. After that, they may slowly fade to more muted, vintage tones but will still hold their shape and colour.
While their petals feel delicate and papery, dried paper daisies are actually quite sturdy and do not shed like other dried florals (such as Pampas grass or Lavender).
To keep your bunch looking pristine, we recommend:
- Minimal Handling: Once you’ve styled them in your vase, try to leave them be.
- Airflow Control: Place them away from high-traffic areas, open windows, or powerful fans/AC vents.
- The "Still" Rule: As long as they remain still, they will keep their shape and petals for years.
Dried paper daisies have a very subtle, earthy scent. They do not have a strong floral fragrance, making them an excellent choice for people who are sensitive to heavy perfumes.
Here is a set of product-specific FAQs tailored for a Dried Paper Daisy Bunch.
Essential Paper Daisy FAQs
1. Are these real flowers?
Yes! These are 100% natural Australian native flowers. They
are called "paper" daisies because their petals have a unique,
naturally papery and crisp texture even when they are growing fresh in
the ground.
2. How long will my dried bunch last?
Because paper daisies are "everlastings," they are incredibly durable. Under ideal conditions (away from direct sunlight and moisture), they will maintain their vibrant color for 1–2 years. After that, they may slowly fade to more muted, vintage tones but will still hold their shape.
3. Do they need water?
No. In fact, water is the "enemy" of dried flowers. Adding water will cause the stems to rot and may lead to mold growth. Keep your bunch in a dry vase or hanging on a wall.
4. Why do the flowers look like they are "closing" or "opening"?
Paper
daisies are reactive to humidity. If the air is very damp or humid, the
petals may curve inward to protect the center (just as they do in the
wild before rain). To keep them "open" and fluffy, display them in a dry, well-ventilated room.
5. How do I clean them if they get dusty?
Since they are delicate, don't use a damp cloth. Instead:
- Use a hairdryer on the lowest, coolest setting from about 12 inches away.
Use a soft feather duster or a makeup brush to gently flick away dust.
6. Do they have a scent?
Dried paper daisies have a very subtle, earthy, "dried hay" scent. They do not have a strong floral fragrance, making them an excellent choice for people who are sensitive to heavy perfumes.
Paper daisies have hygroscopic petals (technically, bracts) — meaning they respond to moisture in the air. When humidity rises or rain is coming, the petals curl inward to protect the centre of the flower from moisture.
In nature, this helps the plant survive in changing weather. Even after drying, the bracts still react to moisture the same way, so they continue to open and close depending on the environment.
When the air dries again, the petals relax and open back up naturally — nothing is “wrong” with the flower. They are simply reactive to humidity.
To keep them looking open, display them in a dry, well-ventilated room. Or put them in a 30 degree oven for 10mins. The flowers will open up again.
Think of it as the paper daisy’s built-in weather instinct, still working even after it’s dried. :)
Paper daisies have semi-flexible stems. After drying, the stems can naturally bend under the weight of the flower heads.
To keep them upright and beautiful, all dried paper daisies from Earth & Green are gently supported with a small dot of glue at the base of the stem. This helps the flower heads stay upright - in both dry and humid conditions - so you can enjoy them without any care.
This is completely natural. The yellow centres of dried paper daisies can deepen or darken as the flower ages, especially if exposed to humidity, sunlight, or frequent handling. It doesn’t mean they’re “going bad” — it’s simply part of the natural ageing process of dried flowers.
Our dried paper daisies are 100% organic and not chemically treated. They are safe to have around pets and children. However, they’re best kept out of mouths — they shouldn’t be chewed or ingested.
